Cataract surgery Kenya
Help people in Kenya see again with cataract surgery. For €100 you pay for a whole operation and receive a video; a smaller amount also contributes.
With €100 you pay for a whole operation and receive a video. A smaller amount is welcome too: it contributes to an operation, without a video.

Every online contribution counts. Once the operation is funded, the next one begins.
Cataract is one of the main causes of blindness, while a short operation can restore sight.
About this project
A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye. Slowly everything becomes blurred, until a person can barely see, or not at all. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 94 million people worldwide are visually impaired or blind because of cataract. The treatment is simple: in a short operation the cloudy lens is replaced with an artificial lens.
In Kenya this operation is out of reach for many people, especially in rural areas. There are few ophthalmologists, the nearest eye clinic is often far away, and the operation is too expensive for many families.
A cataract operation in Kenya costs €100. With that amount you pay for a whole operation and receive a video of the operation. A smaller amount is also welcome: together with other givers you make an operation possible, just without a video. Someone who can see again can work again, go to school and take care of their family.
